Remember when I claimed that “I’m back” last week? Well, I guess I was wrong. There have been no workouts since that tough run last Tuesday. Somehow I just can’t find the motivation to exercise. I feel tired and drained all the time, and all I want to do is sleep, eat, then sleep some more. Am I coming down with something? Or do I simply need a mental break?

The past few weeks have been very stressful. First were all those crazy, last-minute wedding preparations (don’t even get me started), followed by my stepdaughter’s move to Cologne, and then I went back to work, where I needed to catch up on lots of stuff, while dealing with the bureaucratic aftermath of my changed marital status and my new last name. Seriously, how do other newly weds handle it all?

Despite all that, I refuse to return to my former life as a couch potato! Thankfully, yesterday my co-worker and running buddy Alex convinced me to go on another Lunch Break Run with him.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 3.75 miles (6 km)
  • Time: 42:40 minutes
  • Average pace: 11:22 min/mile
  • Feeling: Refreshed

This run was tough, and I slowed down a lot after the first two miles, but somehow I really enjoyed it. Too bad I often forget how great I feel after a good workout. Sigh!

I’m really looking forward to my usual Pilates class, that starts again in October. My back and joints will love it!

Generally, I’ve decided to take it easy and cut myself some slack. I’ll focus on workouts that are fun, and save the grueling speed work on the treadmill for later. Much later.

See you!

A New Beginning

I’m back!

Well, kind of. Today’s run was the first after my two week long ‘wedding break’. And it was tough! My endurance totally sucks right now, I had to take several walking breaks, and I even cut it short. Oh well, things can only get better, right? Right!

The Stats:

  • Distance: 3.55 miles (5,7 km)
  • Time: 43:00 minutes
  • Average pace: 12:06 min/mile
  • Feeling: Exhausted

Slooooow!! Whatever, now that my life is slowly but steadily returning to normal, I definitely plan to run regularly again. Hopefully I can soon get back into the shape I used to be in a few weeks ago, and maybe even get a little bit faster? Hey, a girl can dream!

See you!

Hi everyone, I’m back! We actually returned Friday night, but I’m still trying to catch up and get ready for work, as I have to get back to the office tomorrow. Way too soon, but I can’t help it.

This Workout Recap is so overdue, but better late than never, right? Right! So, here we go.

  • 7 times
  • Total distance: 23.6 miles (38,0 km)
  • Total time: 4:30:00

  • 2 times
  • Total distance: 19 miles (30,6 km)
  • Total time: 1:30:00

Other workouts:

  • 4 strength workouts (1:55 hours)

Not that bad for such a crazy busy month. But my runs were few and slow. Sigh!

Sadly, I couldn’t find the time to exercise at all in the past two weeks. Holy tofu! That’s the longest break since January – back then I was sick for over a week with a stubborn virus.

Anyway, even though I have another busy week ahead, I want to get at least a few workouts in. I really need to get back to my usual routine, that’s crucial for my mental health.

Originally, I had a few races planned for this month, but I already missed one, and I’m not sure if I’m fit enough for the other one. We’ll see. I’ll set my hopes on October.

See you!

From Girlfriend To Wife

Good morning everyone!

Sorry for disappearing so suddenly, but I have a totally valid reason: I got married last Saturday!

I’m probably going to write a longer recap of the day (and the awesome food) soon, but not before next weekend, as we won’t be home for a few days.

I haven’t worked out in a week, and I really miss it. Honestly, I can’t wait to return to my normal routine next week, with the only difference that I’m now a wife, not a girlfriend anymore. 🙂

See you!
