You might have noticed the lack of running posts lately. The reason is this:
This is not my hometown, but it looks a lot like this around here. Beautiful, but also quite dangerous, as the streets have been covered in ice and snow for over a week. I’ve tried to run outside a few times and nearly slipped and fell. So if I want to keep running during winter, which I do, my only option is the treadmill.
Reading a few posts about that dreaded treadmill encouraged me to give it a try. After doing some research I decided to try out a gym that is quite close to my workplace. That gym is very basic, no classes, no sauna, no professional trainers. But it’s also relatively cheap and it has several decent looking treadmills. Past Friday after work I went there and ran on one of their treadmills, and that was actually my first serious attempt.
- Distance: 2 miles (3,2 km)
- Time: 26:30 minutes
- Average pace: 13:20 min/mile
- Feeling: Experimental
After the run I realized that I probably set the pace to low. The settings are in kilometer per hour, very confusing. Next time I will try a faster setting. Yes, there will be a next time! I haven’t joined yet, I snatched a free trial until Christmas, but I’m quite sure I will.
And now I have to build a good running playlist. Here we go!
