There are these days when I come home from work and just can’t bring myself to get out into the cold to run on the ice-covered side walks of the badly lit streets of my little village. On these days I go to my home gym instead! I really love that I can get a great workout without having to leave the house.
Here’s what my home gym looks like:
Pretty basic, but it serves its purpose. A few years ago I scored a great deal on that elliptical. Lately I haven’t used it that much because I have been running outdoors as often as possible, but it’s still great to have that option.
These two workout DVDs are my favorite ones at the moment. They both came with a fitness magazine that I buy occasionally, so they were practically free. And these two 6 pound dumbbells were last year’s Christmas gift from my boyfriend. Yes, he likes to give me weird gifts sometimes. 😉
The left DVD is a 25 min. strength/cardio mix that includes weights. My dumbbells are just perfect for it. The DVD on the right side is a 35 min. Yoga program. I do this one on days when I feel a little sore and need a good stretch or when I’m not in the mood for a sweaty session. I’d say it’s a beginner’s program, no difficult hand stands, but a few fast flows.
On most days I’d do either one of the DVDs or hop onto the elliptical, but when I feel like it I might do a combination to create a longer workout.
See, you don’t need to spend a lot of money for a “real” gym, worrying about getting dressed properly, driving through snowstorms, etc. Working out at your own house is really easy and maybe even cheaper than a gym membership. I love my home gym and wouldn’t want to miss it.
