Friday was such a fantastic day! It was sunny and mild, 60°F is not normal in November! So, once again co-worker A and yours truly went on our usual Friday Lunch Break Run! This time we decided to cut it short, so we could be back at the office a bit sooner.
- Distance: 2.5 miles
- Time: 31:04 minutes
- Average pace: 12:30 min/mile
- Feeling: Exhausted
Wait a moment! Am I really getting faster?! Yeah! 🙂
After talking to some people, I wonder how FAST I should try to run. Usually I aim for a comfortable pace, that keeps my heart rate between 160 and 170, but that pace is actually a bit slower than I can walk. Meaning I could probably finish any given distance faster if I walked the entire time instead of running some parts! So I tried to run a little faster this time. In short, it was horrible! I was out of breath after only 3 minutes and had a nasty stitch in my right side. So I slowed down to my comfortable pace again, switching between 5-6 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking, as usual. Hm, even if I don’t really like it, I think I’ll have to stick with my slow shuffle for a while before I can increase my speed. And I need to run more often! I’m determined to find a decent route near my house that has street lights, so I can run after work.
The weather forecast really scares me, though. It predicts below 40°F for the next week! Eek! Don’t like that! But it’s November, so these temperatures are to be expected. I know it will get even colder in December (and January, February, March *sigh*), somewhere between 10 and 20°F. Help! Honey, can we move to Florida? Please?
Have a nice weekend!
