Remember when I claimed that “I’m back” last week? Well, I guess I was wrong. There have been no workouts since that tough run last Tuesday. Somehow I just can’t find the motivation to exercise. I feel tired and drained all the time, and all I want to do is sleep, eat, then sleep some more. Am I coming down with something? Or do I simply need a mental break?
The past few weeks have been very stressful. First were all those crazy, last-minute wedding preparations (don’t even get me started), followed by my stepdaughter’s move to Cologne, and then I went back to work, where I needed to catch up on lots of stuff, while dealing with the bureaucratic aftermath of my changed marital status and my new last name. Seriously, how do other newly weds handle it all?
Despite all that, I refuse to return to my former life as a couch potato! Thankfully, yesterday my co-worker and running buddy Alex convinced me to go on another Lunch Break Run with him.
The Stats:
- Distance: 3.75 miles (6 km)
- Time: 42:40 minutes
- Average pace: 11:22 min/mile
- Feeling: Refreshed
This run was tough, and I slowed down a lot after the first two miles, but somehow I really enjoyed it. Too bad I often forget how great I feel after a good workout. Sigh!
I’m really looking forward to my usual Pilates class, that starts again in October. My back and joints will love it!
Generally, I’ve decided to take it easy and cut myself some slack. I’ll focus on workouts that are fun, and save the grueling speed work on the treadmill for later. Much later.
See you!
